Primo’s Kikay Kit

Because I can’t sleep, and feeling ko blogger ako tonight Hahaha. I’m going to review the products Primo uses. 😬😶😁🤣

1. Kiele Anti Mosquito Baby Cologne – Best anti-mosquito product ever! We spray on his clothes muna bago nya suotin. Then konti naglalagay ako sa ulo ni baby. 😬 We super love the scent too! Eto yung may Citronella na hindi amoy Citronella! We buy at least 2, one for his travel bag, and 1 for home use. We also have a matching room spray but with Green Tea naman. Super bango din! ❤
2. Human Nature Anti Mosquito Oil – Best for outdoors! They have the lotion-type too pero mas ok ‘to for me. Medyo matapang yung Citronella scent sa una pero ok naman sya. Affordable pa than other Citronella products!
3. Human Nature Wonder Oil – We use as massage oil, and we put also on Primo’s back before bath lalo na pag malamig. I love the scent of this! Tsaka I noticed na nagffade ang insect bite marks ni Primo dito. It has sunflower oil. ❤
4. By Nature Baby Salve – Para sa kati-kati, small wounds, rashes at kung ano ano pa! This is our 3rd tub. Super effective, and can be used as lotion. We also use Ilog Maria which is also effective, we even use it for own boo boos. Pero mas gusto ko yung consistency ng Baby Salve. We used Indigo Baby’s Jar of Hope before nung less than 6months old palang si Primo. Pero since pang toddler na ang kati kati nya, kailangan maglevel up! Hehe
5. By Nature Insect Repellant – We put this sa water na ginagamit ni Primo pangpunas sa gabi. 4-5 drops lang, then we also apply on this legs and arms after. I opt to use sa water para maapply ko sa face ni Primo na hindi maglalangis. 😬 No citronella scent too!

6. By Nature Sunblock – Hindi pa namin na try. 😬 One of the very few natural sunblock lotion in the market.
7. Cradle Surface and Toy Cleaner – Ayun na nga panglinis ng toys hehehe. I haven’t tried other brands yet.
8. Tiny Buds Powder – Talc Free! All natural. Made of rice powder. Para sa singit singit ni na pawisin. 😬 Definitely a must-have!
9. Coco Haven Subtle Touch – We used Chicco before, (until Primo is about 8 months I think), then switched to Human Nature because I prefer a natural bath wash, then this and we never go back. Ganon ako ka-convinced! Hahaha Best. Body Wash. Ever. Hindi nga lang sya tear-free pero very mild!! It’s base is cold pressed coconut oil at super bango, tumatagal hanggang bukas!! Naconvert talaga ko sa Coco Haven kulto! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
By the way, all are free from harmful chemicals! And halos lahat locally-made except Cradle. 😬 Ayun lang. 😘😘😘

Yey for 1 year of breastfeeding!

Primo’s first birthday also marks our 1 year of breastfeeding journey (and counting…) I never thought we can reach this far. It’s honestly tiring, and frustrating sometimes. But when you think about doing it for your beloved little one, you will feel all the challenges that come with it are worth it! I am not at all expert at breastfeeding but I would like to share some tips/learnings I got as we go thru this journey.

1. You probably heard or read this many times, but I’ll say it again. Never doubt your body’s capability to produce milk. I honestly understand Mommies that chose to formula fed their baby in the first few days because the milk is not there yet! But, I think it’s important that you decide during your pregnancy and trust your body that you will produce milk even before you give birth. This mindset is very important. Consider breastfeeding as your top option and not an alternative. Similarly, I do understand and respect Moms who decide to fully formula fed their babies. They have their reason, and we have ours. To each is own.

2. Communicate your desire to breastfeed to your husband, family or your support group during the pregnancy. Express how important their support is for you to be successful in this journey, and learn together on how is this beneficial to the baby. I think a lot of “mistreatment” about breastfeeding is due lack of correct information about it.

3. Prepare for it. Try to understand what’s it’s about, how it works, and what can possibly be done to have a smoother journey. Keep in mind that this will not going to be easy, but be commited to doing your best to do it.

4. Be a proud padede mommy in your own way. I must admit it can be embarassing to nurse in public for the first few weeks but you can get used to it. Be proud you are doing it because it’s for your baby and it’s the best you can give. Each of us has a different level of courage in terms of being a proud padede momma. But what is important is we know why we are doing it, and we are proud of our decision to breastfeed – with or without covers.

As for me and Primo, I do not know when this journey of us will end, but while we are still at it, we’ll make the best time out of these precious moments. ❤️

Primo’s Pick : Bath Wash

Update!!!

I never realized being a Mom would need me to make very specific and detailed choices. Before I gave birth, I researched a lot about what to expect during pregnancy and giving birth. I read all the possible complications and it’s symptoms. I religiously check whether any food is good for me or for my baby. I read almost all the readings I can find about our hospital choice. When I am choosing my own OB and Primo’s Pediatrician, I read all the possible blogs and reviews I can find. I am kind of google dependent, to be honest.  😁 Then, aside from the “the giving birth”-related part, I needed to make choices on what products to use on our little boy. I did not realize it’s that confusing. There are a lot of products available in the market now.

“Primo’s Pick” is my little review column. I will share some of the products we’ve tried and my thoughts about it. Note that these reviews are solely based on my own experience and can be different from other mommas.

First up! BATH WASH. What I am looking for? It should be mild but cleans. Fragrance-free or has very mild baby scent. Easy to find. Affordable.

I don’t know if it’s a standard or protocol in the hospital, but almost all the mom I know said, that the hospital where they gave birth use Lactacyd (the blue one) to bath their baby so they kind of use that as well at home at least for the first few weeks. I did too. Until I realized it’s hard to dilute. I am worried that I am using too much on Primo that it will irritate or dry his skin. So, I switch to Cycle Sensitive which is fragrance free. Indeed it’s very mild, but I feel that it’s not really “cleaning”.  I used it only for about 2 months, then we switch to Chicco Foaming Wash. We love this! It has a mild scent which is so bangoo specially on Primo’s hair. It doesn’t dry Primo’s skin and it has the clean feel after the bath. We are still using it. But, I am trying Human Nature Baby Wash now. It’s because I want to switch to natural products. So far so good. I love the smell too! It’s gentle on Primo’s skin, but I think it does the cleaning well specially for an 11 month baby who sweats a lot now. (He’s learning to walk). So now, I am not sure if I’ll stick to Human Nature because I need to try other natural products, but certainly we are saying goodbye to Chicco.

PS : Other products we tried : Aveeno, Nivea Baby, and Belo. Aveeno and Nivea smells good while using it. But scent doesn’t last long. For Belo, for a natural product, I am not sure why this seemed “matapang”. I have a habit of using Primo’s bath soap first on my face to check if it’s painful in the eyes. Belo is painful. So, I decided not to use it. I hope they improved it though and develop a tear-free version.

Products I want to try :

1. Zen Nutrients Baby Shampoo

2. Coco Haven Baby Bath –  tried this already!! At totoo ang chismis!! Ang bango nya!! At tumatagal talaga. I really liked this, except that hindi sya tear-free. 😦 So ginagamit ko lang sya pag ako nagbbath sa kanya. Kapag iba, he uses Cetaphil Baby. 🙂

Love,

I’m pregnant!

I am 35 weeks++ now, and very excited to meet our baby boy. We’ll actually be meeting him earlier than expected since I needed to have an elective CS procedure very soon! While, I really enjoyed being pregnant, this pregnancy is definitely not easy (not that I have something to compare it with! Hehe). My morning sickness is really really bad during the 1st trimester. I feel like my lower back is splitting into two. Driving  to work is dragging. I have nausea in the afternoon and throughout the night. I can’t get enough sleep. And even just the thought of egg, macaroni soup and smell of cooking rice makes me throw up. I can hardly eat, and I lost a few pounds. Not to mention, going through it with then 8cm fibroid growing in my uterus with our baby (which was only seen in my first ultrasound when I was 5 weeks pregnant). I am worried for our baby a lot. I cry all the time. Thinking about  lot of things.  And yes, maybe the hormones is making me feel worse than it actually is.

2nd trimester I say is quite a breeze. I felt relieved that we made it to 13 weeks. I know we are safer now. My nausea is gone just like that. I am slowly gaining weight and started to eat (everything) Hehe. It’s quite an unforgettable experience hearing baby’s heartbeat and feeling his little flutters for the first time. Pregnancy is really an overwhelming experience. We also found out that we are having a baby boy – when 99% of the time, people we know would guess it’s a girl. We will name him, Primo Luciano. Actually Di named our baby boy from his grandfather’s names. When we had a glimpse of Primo’s face at my 27th week ultrasound, I really felt like bursting into tears. He looks just like Di. His nose, lips, the shape of his face. It’s surreal. I can’t explain the happiness seeing our baby. Primo is like a little version of his father. Two people I love most who looks almost the same. I imagine myself staring at his face for hours. I can’t wait to see our baby!
