My P&G Global Reasoning Test & Unilever Application Experience

I had my Global Reasoning Test yesterday at P&G Office, Petron Megaplaza after passing my online assessment. Ang masasabi ko lang, hindi nya madali! P&G indeed  only hires the best of the best, and I guess (medyo) hindi ako kasama dun! Hehe orrr not yet, next year I’ll try ulit.  Plus, siguro, hindi na rin ako sanay mag exam! HAHA at nasstress ako! Sa makati kasi yun, so ang exam ko supposedly ay 10am. I’m parked in one of the side streets sa Makati and max 3 hours lang pwede magpark dun! I was there 8.54am so hanggang 11.54am lang ako dapat sa parking kung hindi ittow ang walang kamalay malay na kotse. Ang ending, natapos ko naman ang exam, pero hindi ko na nareview. I did not realize, oo nga pala, 10am plus exam briefing pa, plus short orientation, so around 10.40am na kami nag start ng exam per se. It’s a 40-item exam (3 sections) for 65 minutes. So after exam ko, I was not able to review my answers, at nagpaalam ako sa proctor that I need to go na. E di ayun. FAILED! Hay. Not meant, I guess. (They emailed the result in the afternoon).

That afternoon, I had a panel interview at Unilever for a Customer Development position. Nakakakaba. To be honest, I don’t know if I did good or not. My qualifications fit the position, pero I think they prefer someone who is willing to be relocated (Visayas, etc.), and I told them honestly medyo hindi ako willing. Oh well. I’m hoping pa din to get in. By the way, they will be getting 3 individuals for the same position, so hopefully, i get in.

Job hunting is difficult! Pero mas mahirap pala to build a future career and build a path getting there. Hay. Need to wait for few more days to get the result. Fingers crossed.

  1. how did you prepared for the exam? this would be my first time to take it… i have been given on the 8th or 15th as my schedule… am so nervous!!! ahaha!

  2. hi russel!! yey! congratulations. i was not able to prepare that much actually, wag mo ko gayahin! 😛 on the schedule they emailed you, there is a link to the practice test exam. this is very helpful since this is exactly the type of questions that will appear in the exam (only in the actual exam, there are a lot of them!). concentrate on practicing the reading comprehension, and the problem solving, since some items are really challenging and tricky, and last, eat breakfast, pray and relax. 🙂 they will give you the result on the same day.

  3. Hi! I’ll be taking the P&G exam on Friday and I am so nervous!
I have studied the practice exam na, is it really the same type of questions? No tables/graphs etc. (especially in the math part)? Can you share us some tips? 🙂 Thank you very much!

    1. Yes, it’s the same type of questions. Just like the practice exam, some items are easy, others medyo tricky din. My Tip, eat breakfast, go there early para hindi nagmamadali, and relax. 🙂 marami kayo magkakasabay mag eexam. Good luck! 🙂

      1. Hi Annie! I am very sorry I lost the link. 😦 But it should be included in the confirmation letter they emailed to you. 🙂

  4. Hello, Ill be taking the exam on January 10. I’m kinda nervous. Kindly give some tips especially the abstract reasoning part. thank you. BTW, is the 65 minute time good for the exam or it is still not enough? Thank you.

    1. Hi Hanabanana! Congratulations! I am a bit weak on abstract reasoning part honestly. My tip, practice online so you be familiarized with the patterns and the type of questions. This will be very helpful. 65 minutes is enough, but be strategic on the the time, some questions are really tricky so don’t spend too much time on them and skip it muna. Go back nalang when you have remaining time pa. 🙂 Don’t panic if hindi mo naintindihan yung question agad, relax lang, and read it again. 🙂 And last, be there early (wag mo ko gayahin hehe), eat breakfast, and pray (for calmness). I know how you feel. Pero relax lang and just do your best! 🙂 If it’s meant to be, it will be. 🙂

  5. I haven’t received any email from P&G but they sent me a text message saying details were already emailed to me. I received that message when I was at school so when I got home and checked my email, walang email. There’s no link to the practice test exam. 😦

    1. Hi Camille! I suggest you call them or send them a text message to confirm the details again or get an email address where you can communicate or send your inquiries 🙂 If this still doesn’t work, get the trunkline number and ask them to connect you to recruitment. I am sure they’ll assist you. The email contains the Reasoning Test Admission Ticket Number, and important instructions for the test, and this is one chance worth taking so try possible means to confirm this. And lastly, relax. Everything will fall into its place. 🙂

  6. Wow you were off to a great career! I hope I pass also and get in to good companies. I’m beginning to have self-doubt.

    1. Hi! Wag ka magself-doubt! 🙂 Everything will fall into its right place. You know, I am no longer connected to Unilever. 🙂 It’s s good company, but sometimes we have to choose what will make us happy, and fulfilled. Being there made realize what I really want. 🙂 Good luck to you! And remember, He equips us with whatever we need to do what we are called to do! You can make it!

  7. Hi tine how is the hiring process at unilever? Is there numercial test sane as those management trainee position? Thanks

    1. Hi JC! Yes you can contact me. Actually, I do not know with MT position. I was interviewed for a Key Account Management position that time, aside from the online forms/assessments there is no other exam. Just a series of panel interviews.

      1. I was not able to clarify pala. I applied for the Customer Development Position, and was interviewed for that bit later on, they interviewed me again for Key Account Management position since mas fit daw ako dun. I think they can refer you to another position if they think mas ok ka dun. I got in as Key Account Management position.

  8. Hi! Medyo ilang taon na post ninyo but still very relevant. Hope you don’t mind if I ask: sabi po ninyo you “failed” the global reasoning test and yet you were called in for an interview — even got accepted for a job? Congrats! Pero paano po nangyari un? Salamat.

  9. Hi tine! I’d like to know more about the series of panel interviews as that one makes me feel more nervous than the exam. 🙂 Let me know how.

    1. Hi Kat!🙂 To be honest, it’s intimidating at first. You will be interviewed by some of the heads. (But not the big bosses. That’s during my time. I am not sure if it’s still the same now). But really, you just have to be yourself. They have what they call “fit for the position”. Like one can be super achiever, very good in everything and all, but still doesn’t fit. They are looking for very specific skills, and character specific for the job, and the company culture. So I my tip is, get a balance between telling them what they need to hear and what you are really willing to do for the job. That’s very important. Not every one who got in “survives” and “blended” with the culture and ways of working. Like me, hindi kinaya ng powers. Hehe.🙂 Kaya mo yan!! Just be yourself. Good luck!

    1. Hi Sam. 🙂 As I said, not everyone is fit for the company and the culture. I got regularized and maybe I am fit for the position as well as the culture, I got to enjoy very good perks a regular employee gets, but then, I realize early on, I can’t do it in the long run. My stress will kill me eventually. Hahaha I only lasted 11 months, and I decided to resign. I am not ashamed of this at all na hindi ako tumagal. I learned a lot from my stay, and it became a turning point of my career life. 😊 Sometimes, we’ve been dreaming of something than we thought would satisfy us, pero pag andun na, we then realize there are far more important things than that. 😊 Ang habaaa magreply. Sinipag lang. hehe. 😬

      1. I totally understand where you are coming from. As we mature our priorities change. Anyway, I am about to take Global Reasoning Test of P&G tomorrow and did an online research how the experience looks like. I noticed you took the exam back in 2013. Although your blog was written 3 years ago I find it helpful. I just hope they didn’t change the exam completely. I went through their practice test and scored relatively well naman pero if they changed the actual exam itself from the practice test baka medyo mahirapan ako haha. I went through an aptitude test 2 months back with an multi national online booking company based out in Thailand. The experience was really bad. Lol. Yung aptitude test nila are so different from what I recall when I was starting to work. Meron mga graphs, pies and charts etc. kaya naloka ako at nawalan ng focus .. ayon bagsak. Haha. Kaya ito naman eh try ko at sana I can pass this exam. Kaloka nga to think of it I am already middle aged haha, spent 14 years in the BPO industry after college. Got promoted up until a Director level and now looking to start a new career outside the industry. Looking forward na makapasok sa P&G and start a new career in Marketing or Brand Management. I bet ang mga kasabayan ko bukas mga bagets pa. Lolz. Wish me luck!
